There are so many interesting and unique things to see in Utah! Some are odd, some are historical, but all of them give Utah its special character. Not all of them require a long hike. Many places can be seen from your car or with a little walk from your car. We'll take you to some of our favorites.

You don't have to climb mountains or do multi-day backpacking to enjoy Utah's hiking trails. There is something for everyone. Easy, moderate, and some toughies to make your heart pound and your smile go ear-to-ear. Take your time. Enjoy the journey. Bring your pup (if allowed). Just go!

Small towns often have the best restaurants. Chances are it's the mom-and-pop locals go to. Whether it's the burgers, shakes, Navajo tacos, or that special sauce no one else can get quite right, these gems are worth a stop. We'll show you places you'll be telling your friends to go stuff their bellies.

This section is meant for weekend adventures. It could be a visit to a park, a museum, or just a neat place or town. Or maybe it's just a little trip we did that we wanted to share with you. Hopefully this category gives you ideas for the next time you think, "what should we do this weekend?"

Welcome to Utah Alex
Welcome to UtahAlex
I have been a journalist in Utah for 21 years. With all the time I have spent traveling throughout the state, I have been fortunate to see many places that make you smile and feel alive. I started Utah Alex to show you some of those places, get some grub, and have a little fun. Friends and co-workers often ask me for tips on where to go and what to eat in small towns throughout the state because they know I love exploring Utah as often as I can. So, I figured it would be fun to take some of my knowledge and experiences and put them here to share.
This is not meant to be a travel blog or an extreme adventure page. There are plenty of websites for those. This is meant to be a place to get some ideas to have a fun, easy adventure. It's to help get you out there and see things without risking your life on a strenuous multi-day hiking trip or bagging peaks for mountain summits. This website is for us weekend warriors who still just want to feel adventurous. Many of us may be middle-aged (and older), but us cool kids aren't done yet. If I can do these things, anyone can. Enjoy!
